Anna Gabler, Soprano

Soprano Anna Gabler has established herself internationally as lyric-dramatic soprano and performs her wide repertoire on the international stages of Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, Dresden and overseas.

Anna Gabler starts the 2021/22 season as Female Chorus in the new production of Brittens The Rape of Lucretia at Stadttheater Gießen. Staatstheater Karlsruhe has contracted the soprano for the title role in Gräfin Mariza, which will be presented in a new production at Badisches Staatstheater. Festival Erl will present the artist as Genièvre in a new production of Chausson‘s Le Roi Arthus. With Bremer Philharmoniker she will perform as soprano soloist in Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem.

Recent engagements include: Freia (Das Rheingold), 3. Norn and Gutrune (Götterdämmerung) in Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen an der Opéra de Paris with Philippe Jordan conducting; Esmeralda in Franz Schmidt‘s Notre Dame at Festival St. Gallen; Agathe (Freischütz), Chrysothemis (Elektra), Arabella and Capriccio-Gräfin at Wiener Staatsoper; Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) with Daniele Gatti conducting at Salzburg Festival and with Vladimir Jurowski conducting at Glyndebourne Festival; Ortlinde (Die Walküre) under the baton of Christian Thielemann and Senta in the children’s opera production of Der fliegende Holländer at Bayreuth Festival; Leonore (Fidelio) and Carlotta (Die Gezeichneten) at Oper Köln; Senta (Der fliegende Holländer) at Teatro Comunale Bolgona; Salome at Stadttheater Klagenfurt  - this production was chosen as opera production of the year in Austria - and at Nationaltheater Mannheim.
Born in Munich, she has a longstanding relationship with the Bavarian State Opera. Here she began as a member of the young ensemble and returned regularly, most recently as Gutrune in the Götterdämmerung under the direction of Kirill Petrenko. For her interpretation of the role of Gutrune she was awarded the Festival Prize of the Bavarian Opera Festival in 2012.

With her first permanent engagements in Düsseldorf and Nuremberg, Anna Gabler laid the basis for her international career. Guest appearances have taken her to prestigious stages in Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dresden and Tokyo. Anna Gabler worked with some well-known directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Stefan Herheim, David McVicar, Christof Loy and Katharina Thalbach.

In the concert area, she sang Mahler's 8th Symphony, Verdi Requiem, Strauss’ Four Last Songs, Britten’s War Requiem and Orchesterlieder by Joseph Marx a.o.
